Driver/Operator, Fire Department - Deadline for Applications September 30th, 2017
- Engages in firefighting, rescue, equipment operation & maintenance, as well as fire station maintenance in order to keep a high state of readiness.
- Engages in fire prevention, community service events & training activities.
- Assists in EMS functions during fire suppression/rescue activities. Must maintain a high level of physical fitness.
High School Diploma or GED; Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license within 30 days of hiring date; pass a criminal background check, provide satisfactory DMB driving record for the past 5 years; pass pre-employment drug screen.
Must possess a minimum of: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter I and certification in one of the following: First Aid, Basic Life Support, Emergency Medical First Responder or equivalent. Ability to attend training, seminars and meetings to remain knowledgeable of modern fire suppression and prevention methods; must maintain required certifications.
Must be physically capable of performing all tasks; mandatory participation in physical training programs when off-duty.
Pay Information: $33,330 or higher Annually DOE/DOQ, w/ excellent benefits including paid holidays, participation in the State PORS, State Health Plan with employees health and dental insurance premiums paid by the Town.

The Town of Ridgeland will be conducting its annual flushing and flow testing of the water system in August, 2017. The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control requires that the town flush its water system annually.
Flushing consists of opening hydrants and allowing them to flow freely. During this process, it is possible that your water may appear discolored. This is normal and can easily be eliminated by letting your water run for a few minutes. We especially urge you to check your water BEFORE washing laundry.
