The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Lee Mervin, Jr., was found to be in possession of a handgun that was not properly being transported. His charges stemmed from an incident on February 20, 2014, when Ahlers was alleged to have threatened an employee at Boat and RV Megastore, 401 Sycamore Drive.

Officers arrived and located two subjects matching the description given to them by dispatchers. The two subjects were in their vehicle and officers detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Officers performed a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a quantity of marijuana. Both subjects were given citations for simple possession of marijuana and released.

10:09 p.m. Officers observed a Honda Accord with an expired vehicle license as it traveled on Grahamville Road. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and immediately detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle uncovered a handgun under the driver's seat. Stephen Lamont Murray, Jr. was arrested for unlawful carry of a handgun and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.
